Realization-1

Last time I took a rickshaw from Miranda House Hostel to Kamla Nagar, the bhaiyaji asked 20 bucks for it and I kind of got mad at him for demanding that. Everybody knows the fare is only rupees 15. Then why should I spend 5 bucks more for no reason. Being irresponsible about money isn't too good.
And then I relaized.
How terribly biased we are from inside. I wouldn't bargain for a 5 buck in a FabIndia store, or at a coaching centre, even when we all know the truth that the commodities we consume are much cheaper in real life then what they are sold us for. But well you know, I dont want to sound cheap, standing there at a good store asking them for 5 bucks in return.
But, I can do that with a rick driver. Because I am probably standing along on the road and he is not going to judge me, or maybe even if he does, it won't much matter. It is only in these few rare moments that you get to meet the "you" yourself and when I met myself like that, I felt ashamed. So I stopped thinking and politely gave him 20 bucks thinking it was worth it. Afternoon sun, one kilometre of pulling a rick attached to a cycle, hell yes his sweat was worth it. Every single penny.
